Thread vein removal
The fine veins are tiny red or blue vessels that run close to the surface of the skin and are commonly found on the face, thighs, on the calves and around the ankles.
They can arrive without warning and their presence can be attributed to lifestyle, alcohol, excessive exposure to sun and hereditary factors. Hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and menopause are also thought to promote their development.
How are thread veins removed?
The procedure involves one of our qualified practioners injecting with a micro-needle, a special solution directly into the vein. This solution displaces the blood within the vein, making it blanch or turn white. The solution then causes the vessel to become irritated and to close, preventing blood from re-entering the vein.
The thread/spider veins will gradually fade over a three month period. Depending on their size, blood vessels may have to be injected more than once. On average 1 to 3 treatments are required to effectively remove the vein, each treatment being 3 to 4 weeks apart. Most patients can expect up to a 90% improvement in the appearance of the treated vessel.
