Teeth whitening

Rogers Medical clinics offer teeth whitening using the revolutionary and effective LA Smile laser system. Simply, the procedure involves painting the teeth with a proprietary whitening gel based on hydrogen peroxide, then shining a laser light onto the teeth to activate the gel to whiten the teeth. The procedure takes about 10 minutes and results are visible after one session. Patients normally have 4 sessions in one sitting lasting about an hour in total.

What is teeth whitening?

The surface of the teeth contain millions of microscopic pores and over time, organic compounds from food, fizzy drinks, tea, coffee and tobacco etc., settle into these pores and cause discolouration of the tooth enamel. The whitening gel when activated by the laser turns into water and oxygen, which penetrates the enamel and almost all types of stain are lifted out of the porous enamel.

Following an initial consultation with one of our medical technicians the patient is made comfortable and prepared for the treatment. This preparation involves placing a protective covering over the gums and placing a brace over the patient’s mouth to allow full access to the “smile region” of the teeth. As with normal dental procedures; suction is continually applied to remove excess saliva. A small amount of whitening gel is then applied to the teeth. The laser light is then positioned over the treatment area activating the gel to quickly decompose and deeply penetrate the pores in the teeth enamel, lifting out any stains. This procedure is normally repeated up to 4 times at any one sitting.
