Dermal fillers

Whether it's the simple passage of time or damage from the sun's intense rays, dermal (skin) fillers subtly help turn back the clock and instantly erase the signs of ageing.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers consist of naturally occurring biochemical gels; they are the latest successor to collagen injections. They replicate collagen in the skin by firming the skin and by having the characteristics of a humectant (water holder) which helps keep the skin supple, hydrated and volumous. The effect of dermal fillers last up to 6 months, but you can have a "top-up" procedure at any time to maintain the effect; ultimately dermal fillers are non-permanent and are absorbed naturally and safely by the body over time.

The fillers are injected under the skin using a very small needle by a trained medical professional. The procedure is quick, virtually painless and the results immediate. The extent to which the needle is injected and the consistency of gel used is determined by the depth of the wrinkle or fold to be treated. There maybe some slight swelling or bruising but this usually clears within 24-48 hours, concealing makeup can be applied immediately.

Restylane

The Restylane family of dermal fillers are all based on hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in all living organisms. The Restylane product range consists of:

  • Restylane Touch: suitable for fine facial lines.
  • Restylane: for wrinkles.
  • Restylane Perlane: for deeper facial folds.
  • Restylane Sub Q: for facial augmentation, chin and cheek recontouring.
  • Resytalne Vital: for rejuvenating skin in the décolletage and hand area.
